A Way to Better Understanding
Squeezing your scriptures is like squeezing an orange. You hold a half of an orange in your hand and squeeze. Then you reposition it and squeeze again. Then you squeeze one more time just to make sure you got every ounce of juice. Just like with our scriptures, we can squeeze them and get some spiritual juice flowing.
With this template, you will be able to reposition your scriptures, and get more out of each verse you squeeze.
Here are some reasons to squeeze your scriptures:
1. To better our Study Session
Who doesn’t want to study their scriptures better then before? I mean, this is something that we try for every time we pick them up. This tool will help you understand the who, the what, the how, and the why within your scriptures.
2. To deepen our understanding of the Scriptures
Elder Bednar once said,”[The] teachings of Paul and of Alma and from the Lectures on Faith highlight three basic elements of faith: (1) faith as the assurance of things hoped for which are true, (2) faith as the evidence of things not seen, and (3) faith as the principle of action in all intelligent beings. I describe these three components of faith in the Savior as simultaneously facing the future, looking to the past, and initiating action in the present.”
You will be able have a deeper understanding of the scriptures, because it will assure you of things hoped for, show you evidence of things not seen and help us to initiate action within us.
3. To better our understanding of the Plan
The last but not least. What better way to understand the plan that Heavenly Father has for us than by deepening our understanding of the gospel. Having this deeper understanding of the Gospel, will propel us into action and help those around us as we choose the right.
Just thinking of studying the scriptures sometimes sounds impossible or unimaginable. Remember, “And out of small things proceedeth that which is great.” It isn’t unimaginable or impossible. It only takes one foot step at a time. It takes Action.
